Pacific Natural History

The goal of this course is to acquaint students with the unique features of the Pacific Northwest. Areas covered include ecology, ornithology, geology, botany, zoology, and entomology. An expert in each field presented an area of study. Each presenter provided students with information that they could use as a springboard in selecting a topic to study in depth. Each class participant consulted one of the "mentor teachers" in choosing a topic, as well as locating information. The result of this course is a website with teacher-developed projects that they selected based on their particular interest and for use at their grade level. Teachers at all levels who seek background information may use the contents in these projects. This information will also be used by participants in the Ecology of the Pacific Northwest course to develop lessons and activities to be used by students who are studying this area of the United States.
