In 2003, two projects were sponsored by the Co-op. One was a study of the Guadalupe Mountains in west Texas and southwest New Mexico and the other was an in-depth study of areas in Colorado and Wyoming.
These were not easy ventures as participants had to brave the elements many times. Packing tents and campfire gear is a big production and one must be willing to give up many comforts to enjoy the results of this true outdoor experience.
These project pages are a tribute to those who braved the elements and enjoyed the diversity and beauty of our western lands. Geology, natural history and ecology are very exciting in this part of America. The pictures and dialog that follow, chronicled by the teachers themselves, will help students experience the area exponentially and learn to value it in the process.
